Documents

On this page you will find various free downloadable documents and publications. It is the intention for example, to have the text of previous Bird Reports available here as an online archive.

Index of Description Species for Eastern Glamorgan since 2000
David Gilmore, the County Recorder has just [Oct 2014] completed drawing up an index of all the records of description species for the Eastern Glamorgan recording area since 2000. This should be a very useful resource for researchers and as a reference for anyone interested in past rarities. The plan is that this document will be kept up to date as more records or species are added.

Supplement to The Birds of Cardiff 2006.
This book, under the authorship of David Gilmore was published in 2006 by the Glamorgan Bird Club. In the intervening period the author, who is the Bird Recorder for East Glamorgan, has prepared an update which includes species not know about when the original book was published [e.g. arising from further research or historical documents not previously available], and also additional significant records that have been established in the period since 2006. This supplement is only being published here as a downloadable PDF file. Owners of the original book can print the pdf out and it is sized to print at A5 the same size as the original. Please be aware that if printed on A4 sheets the document will be printed in the centre and will need trimming on all 4 sides to A5, but it will print properly on A5 paper.

EASTERN GLAMORGAN BIRD REPORT

Over a period of time the PDF text of past reports will be linked to here, so they can be read online or downloaded. A start has been made - just click on the blue hyperlinked titles - you will go to a new page or it will download depending on your browser. Please note these files comprise the body text of each report - photographs and line drawings have been excluded due to the excessive file size inclusion of these would cause. Apologies to the photographers/artists but these downloads are intended merely as a source of information. Where they were still available, the photographs for the report are to be found under the 'Galleries' link on the menu bar.

BIRDING IN GLAMORGAN - A SITE GUIDE
This is a book which was published by the Glamorgan Bird Club in 2009, but is now out of print. However the main body of the book is downloadable from the GBC Google Drive - click here - be aware that the file is 61MB as it contains many site maps. Also be aware that some site details may now be out of date, but most are still valid. You may or may not get an error message from Drive but will be able to download anyway - you will then get a message saying that the file is too large for Drive to scan for viruses, but it is safe and you can download anyway.
