Quick News

Welcome to the Glamorgan Birds Website, a joint venture between the Glamorgan Bird Club and Gower Ornithological Society. The main function of these bodies is to produce the annual bird reports for the East and West of the county of Glamorgan.

This website features a number of online services aimed at making your birding in Glamorgan much easier. There are links to a number of pages that will be useful to anyone with an interest in birds, from the casual birdwatcher to the keenest of birders.

Please visit the sections devoted to both the Glamorgan Bird Club and Gower Ornithological Society (see 'Club Pages' on the menu bar above). If you visit this site regularly and are not a member of these organisations, then please consider joining them.

<<<Get your 2011 records sent in!!!>>>

Time to submit your records for the 2011East Glam Bird Report and also the Gower Bird Report. See the forum for instructions. Could all MapMate users please ensure your 2011 recs are databased and you have sync'd with your respective hubs. For the EGBR, in order that I get everything on my installation of MM I believe that there are those who sync direct with Dave Slade at SEWBReC. Hence Dave needs to snyc with Barry Stewart who needs to sync with Dave Carrington, who is my hub. This way I will also get those recs of people for whom Barry is hub. Thanks - John Wilson

<<<Llanishen/Lisvane reservoirs - update >>>

The car park at Lisvane reservoir has been re-opened and it is possible to view the reservoir from the car park and also the official viewing platform on the east side. Prohibition of walking around the reservoirs however, is still very much in place and is being enforced by security guards. We therefore still ask members to observe these restrictions to maintain our good relationship with both the owners, their security staff and CCW, who are supportive for the continuance of the monitoring of the wintering birds.
